General Manager – Oahe Electric Cooperative – Blunt, SD – Due to an upcoming retirement, the Oahe Electric board of directors invites applications for the general manager position. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of utility operations and have proven leadership, communication, management and people skills necessary to lead the cooperative and meet the challenges of the future. A strong commitment to serving the member-owners and the ability to work effectively with the five-member elected board of directors is required. A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a closely-related field is desired. Ten years of progressively responsible management experience in the electric industry is required. Cooperative experience and demonstrated commitment to the cooperative values is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The general manager will be expected to reside in the cooperative’s service territory. General Manager/CEO – Upper Cumberland EMC – Carthage, Tenn. – The GM/CEO reports to a nine-member board of directors. Experience with and a strong understanding of governance and the CEO/ Board relationship in expected. The candidate must possess exceptional people skills, demonstrated leadership acumen, member relations understanding, team building experience and a global understanding of the core business practice areas of an electric distribution system. The individual must have a strong safety focus. Position requires at least five years’ experience at the senior management staff level. Electric utility experience is required; TVA experience preferred. A demonstrated understanding and respect of cooperative principles and business model is essential. Knowledge in the areas of strategic planning, board relations, operations, financial issues, rate structures, and legislative issues are required. The successful candidate will be one of high integrity with excellent oral/written communication skills. A college degree is preferred.
